I love moves

Saki Mi

Movies give me knowledge and entertainment. I like watching movies so much! I watch them once a week. Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite directors. He made a lot of wonderful movies such as Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited away, Castle in the Sky and Howl’s Moving Castle. I have watched them since I was a child. Hayao Miyazaki’s works always make me excited, so I watch them again and again.

My most favorite Hayao Miyazaki’s works are Spirited away, Howl’s Moving Castle and Totoro. Spirited away is the story of a girl. Chihiro is the main character. She worked in a hotel in order to save her parents because they were transformed pigs by a magic. Chihiro made friends thorough her life there. Finally, Chihiro saved not only her parents her parents but also her parents. In Spirited away I learned that there absolutely is a solution to get over a trouble.

Howl’s Moving Castle is the story of a woman. Sophi, the main character, had no confidence in her appearance. Unfortunately, she was made a senior woman by Witch of the Waste. Sophi met Howl to try to become a young woman before she got a senior woman. Her thinking in her appearance changed gradually since she met him. Sophi became an active woman and made not only herself but also Howl and other people peaceful. Howl’s Moving Castle taught me have a confidence myself and make my life happy myself.

Totoro was the story of two young sisters, Satsuki and Mei. They moved into the country with their family. Their mother was ill, so they couldn’t often meet her. Satsuki and Mei met Totoro in the forest. Totoro was a God of Tree. Mei, a younger sister, tried to meet her mother because she heard her mother got severely ill, but she got loss on the way to the hospital. Totoro helped Satsuki, an older sister, to find Mai, and she found her sister. Whenever I watch Totoro, it makes me think that I have to cooperate with each other.

I like Hayao Miyazaki’s movies very much because I always enjoy watching his movies. All of them teach me something and make me excited, so I will recommend the people who have never watched them.

My Favorite Movies

by Sayuri

I love watching movies. I’m taught new thinking ways, history and knowledge after I watch movies. I can go to wonderful world while I’m watching movies. I watch any kind of movies except horror movies, so I show you three good movies which taught me do not give up, be positive and importance of imagination: The Terminal, Life is Beautiful and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I like airports, so the movie The Terminal is one of my favorite movies. The movie start from a scene, a man was denied entry gate at an American airport because of his country’s revolution. He had to stay there until his passport got power force and then his new life at the airport started. I like this movie because it taught me my life will give me a lot of trials, but if I do not give up, I will reach my goal.

Life is Beautiful is also my favorite movie because it has not only sad story but also cheerful story. During WWII, an Italian family whose religion was Judaism was taken to a concentration camp. The mother was separated from her son and husband. The cheerful father lied to his son that it was a game and if we won the game we would get a big car. Their hard but warm days started. The father taught me even if my days seemed tough, a positive behavior made you relax.

I’m interested in operation in sweet company, so I really like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. At first, Wonka, a manager of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, said 5 people who got golden tickets were able to come to his factory. As a result 5 children visited there. One of them, Charlie, had an unbelievable, sweet and wonderful time at the factory. Nevertheless, some scary happenings came up to them. After the movie, I felt excited and I wanted to ask the director how he created it. This work exceeded my imagination.

Movies are a part of my life. I’m always taught important things which I need to live in my daily life such as being positive and work hard. If you need confidence, want to knew different ideas or just have fun, watching movies is one of the way.

Impressive Movies

Watching movies always gives me inspiration in many ways. It gives me a sad feeling, a happy feeling, and other various feelings which I cannot express in my words. I have loved to watch movies since I was in elementary school, because my mother loved to. She took me a DVD rental shop and we rent four DVDs per week. I really liked to watch DVDs with my mother, so I finished my homework before watching them. Thus, watching movie became one custom of my daily life. I don’t remember all of the movies which I watched, but there are some movies I cannot forget. These movies will be in my heart as a part of my life.

One of my favorite movies is “Life is beautiful”, an Italian language film which tells the story of a Jewish-Italian man. When I first watched this movie, I was shocked because I didn’t know that there was such a terrible discrimination against Jewish Italian. However, I was very impressed by the main character’s way of life. He never forgot to smile in front of his son and his wife by the end of his life. He always made his family happy and enjoyed his life if he was in a difficult situation. This is a beautiful story.

Next, there is a little strange but good love story which I like. To be honest, I don’t like love stories so much, except “Buffalo’66”. I really like this movie. This movie made by Vincent Gallo who is an American actor, a movie director, and a screenwriter. He is most associated with independent movies, and “Buffalo’66” is one of them. I don’t know why I like this movie, but I just like the atmosphere of this movie. This movie gave me a different kind of happy feeling at the end of the story, so it’s a one reason why I like it. There is no any specific reason to like it, but it’s one of my favorite movies.

Finally, I have a movie which I would like to recommend to all people who are interested in Japan: “Princess Mononoke”. It is an animation movie that was produced by Hayao Miyazaki, who is one of founders of Ghibli Studio. The theme of this movie is a battle of nature and humans. The story is a little confusing, but the message of this story is very valuable. After watching this movie, you will think more deeply about the relationship between nature and humans. I am proud of this movie as a Japanese, and Ghibli movies are one of the most important assets which show Japanese culture to other countries.

I think that I can learn many things from movies that I cannot learn from textbooks. Now, I don’t have enough time to watch movies in the library, but I would like to try watching as many as possible. Watching movies keeps giving me various feelings and new inspiration forever.

No Life No Movie

By Sae

Movies are necessary for our life. They make us happy, excited or moved because all movies are stories about life. There are many ways to watch movie for entertainment, dreaming, and learning. Some movies are from books and truth, so it is easy to know much information with dynamic images and sounds. I was raised up by my parents who are addicted to watches movies, so movies affect me many times. In addition, I learned three important things from my favorite movies. These are being myself, making an effort, and never giving up.

“Everyone wants to be us!!” The phrase taught me how important to know what my real desire is. This line is from one of my favorite movies “The Devil Wears Prada”. This story is about a young woman who works as the second assistant to ao fashion magazine editor. Andrea came to New York for her dream of becoming a journalist, but she could apply only to the fashion magazine Runway even though she is not interested in fashion. She started to work under the powerful executive Miranda temporarily for professional challenge. Working under her harsh boss is hard for her dream. Afterward, she found that she lost her boyfriend, friends and family because she works hard every day. She asks herself what she really wants to do, what her dream is, and why she continues to work there even she has enough experience. Finally she quits this job and applies to a newspaper to get back to the real Andrea. I learned making an effort and never giving up are important, so this movie encouraged to me at the time I was thinking about my plan to study abroad. This movie reminds me to make a right decision instead of fearing.

Another great movie is “Little Dancer”. The movie is in 1984 England. The boy Billy goes to boxing club after school. One day, on the way his home he is attracted to ballet. He practices ballet with girls without telling his father who strikes against coal mines. Billy’s teacher teaches him eagerly because she finds his talent. However, his father found he does ballet instead of boxing, so he gets angry. When he realizes his son’s talent, he stops striking to earn for his son’s ballet school. Although stopping striking is betrayal to his friends, he doesn’t hesitate to do it. By the grace of his parents and teacher, he becomes a ballet dancer. In this movie, Billy shows us that all people have the right to choose without worrying about gender or ability. Every time I can’t decide something, this movie reminds me that being myself is important.

“The Whisper of The Heart” imprinted on people’s memories with heartwarming story. The girl loving to read books, Shizuku, found the name Seiji on many cards of books at library. She falls in love with him even though she doesn’t know who he is. One day, a cat is in the train which Shizuku gets in, and then she follows that cat. The cat leads her to mysterious shop Chikyuya. She meets the grandfather Shiro and Seiji at that shop. Seiji is Shiro’s grandson. He makes violins in the shop’s basement because he dreams to go to Italy to learn about craftsman of violin. Shizuku gets worried because she faces Seiji’s strong hope. After thinking what she can do now, she starts to write her story. This movie describes that everyone has talent and intelligent, but it isn’t easy to be successful at that field even with capacity; on the other hand, people can’t succeed without making an effort. People have felt anxious about future when they were students, and I have it too. Many people are familiar with Suzuku’s feeling. That is why “The Whisper of The Heart” is still popular.

Movies give us quasi experience. We can be happy, sad, relieved or anxious by watching movies because they give us a lot of information about life; on the other hand, we can learn from movies. For me, watching movies is a method to have fun, relax, and learn. Being myself, making an effort, and never giving up are all I learned from movie. Those words will keep encourage me when I have a hard time. I think many people have learned something like me. Thus, I can’t imagine life without movies.

Hayao Miyazaki

Haruka

Hayao Miyazaki taught me many important things. He is a really famous anime movie director in Japan. All Japanese people know his works. Even little children like his old work because their parents show his animation to their children. When I was a child, my mother showed his movies, and I loved them. My three most favorite movies are Kiki’s Delivery Service, Whisper of the Heart, and Princess Mononoke.

Kiki’s Delivery Service gave me confidence. The main character of Kiki’s Delivery Service is Kiki. Kiki was a witch who was 13 years old. There was a rule that the witch who became 13 years old had to be independent of her parents, and live in a different town. It was hard for Kiki to live alone, but she found what she can do, and worked hard. Finally, she became popular in the town. This movie taught me that if people work hard, they can get over their difficulties.

Whisper of the Heart reminds me of my junior high school days. Shizuku was a junior high school student who loved reading books. One day, she met Seiji who had a dream to become a violin maker. After she met Seiji, she started to think about her dream because Seiji already decided what he wanted to be in the future. After that, she realized that she wanted to be a writer. However, she didn’t know what she had to do to be a writer, so she was confused. When I was a junior high school student, I was also confused because I didn’t know what my dream was. This movie taught me that I don’t have to be in a hurry to decide my future.

I started to think about nature after I watched Princess Mononoke. The setting of this movie is a Nara period. There was Princess Mononoke who lived with animals in a forest. At that time, people started to cut the trees, and burned the forest. For this reason, Princess Mononoke and the animals got angry, and started fighting with people. Consequently, many people and nature died. This movie taught me that people have to protect nature where animals can live peacefully.

These three movies taught me important things. My mother wanted me to learn something. That’s why she showed me Hayao Miyazaki’s movies.
I think his works will never die.
